2. Kim LEGO 1951 - 2001
As many of you would know, Kim Lego, a great contributor to ECAWA and computer education in this state, was laid to rest on the 16th of May 2001.

The great many people who were able to attend the service at the Penhros Chapel and later, at the cemetary, shared what I can only describe as a moving experience. Their numbers were testament to the high esteem in which Kim was held, and the commentary revealing of what a great and caring human being this man was.

As most of us know, being a teacher is a demanding role and we all, at times, let the "downs" get the better of the "ups" and we wonder if all the efforts that we make, create a difference. Hearing the unsolicited words of some of Kim's past students, some in letters written over a decade ago affirm the deep and enduring impact great teachers can have on the "future".

I believe Kim personified the nobility of the teaching profession for all of us, and I conclude with an excerpt from the service, which, in this material and technological world of ours, I believe is a pertinent yardstick for us all to consider...

"To laugh often and much,
to win the respect of intelligent people and
    the affection of children,
to earn the appreciation of honest critics and
endure the betrayal of false friends,
to appreciate beauty,
to find the best in others,
to leave the world a bit better,
whether by a healthy child, a garden patch...
to know even one life has breathed easier
    because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded!"
Emmerson.

RIP
Kim Lego
1951-2001
By any measure, a successful man.
